    Ken and Sue Christianson are pleased to announce their son, Jay, will be joining Chrishaven Trees beginning February 1. Jay has worked intermittently at the nursery over the years and has always exhibited an interest in many of the species grown and their pruning and culture.

  • Between-Row Cover Cropping - October 11, 2011

    At Chrishaven Trees, we have always utilized cover crops in an effort to enhance soil preservation, increase organic matter, and improve soil tilth and permeability. Our nursery is comprised of medium textured soils, all of which are sub-surface tiled. Our goal is to produce the best quality trees for our customers. Ensuring healthy and vigorous root systems through superior soil structure is just one means of accomplishing this.

  • 'Satomi' Rocks! - June 26, 2011

    Wow! What a stellar image a block of Cornus k. ‘Satomi’ in full bloom is! That’s what we see this week as we walk our nursery… hundreds of trees in brilliant pink. This definitely is a lovely and durable item for any landscape. ‘Satomi’ provides memorable impressions throughout the season as a single focal point, in small groups, or rowed out along a lane.

    The trip had been scheduled for six months, so what were we to do when miserable spring weather prevented planting most of our 2011 liner crop before departure on May 17? We ordered up a couple thousand 7-8 gallon pots and put our team to work potting up beautiful Acer griseum Dogwood, Stewartia, and Magnolia the week prior to departure.
