Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum) is a lovely slow growing native that offers special interest throughout the year. Spring and summer bring glossy green foliage with splashes of orange-maroon; mid summer lovely white clusters of bell shaped blooms emerge. The floral display transcends to eye-catching pendulous brown fruit clusters, providing a curious appeal throughout the winter months. Fall color is exceptional tones of reds and orange. Grows 30-50'. Selected as a 2002 Great Plant Pickā„¢. Native to southeastern United States. Zone 5-9.
